Taking branding pictures is a pretty big step for your business. While we both know you have a lot of talent to offer, your photos are what will sell you to your clients. They add a personal touch while showing potential partners what you are all about. So, when you are getting ready for your sessions, you need to think about everything! Outfit Selection

Your outfits are going to be one of the first things people notice about your personal branding sessions. I always advise my clients to put a lot of thought into their selection. So, what should you wear? I would go with pieces that make you feel confident while staying true to your brand. Think of clothes you would want to wear while meeting a client. If you want a cohesive theme, you can stick with colors that match your website. Oh, and be sure to try on everything ahead of time. Move around and make sure you’ll be comfortable while avoiding any wardrobe malfunctions! 

Professional Hair and Makeup

I know you probably have your hair and makeup down to a science. But I would still suggest booking a professional for your personal branding session! Not only will you have one less thing to stress about, but you can also make sure you have a look that will work well with the cameras. By the way, trial sessions ahead of time are always a good idea! 

Locations

Finding your right location can be a little tricky. If you have a workspace you are proud of, we can absolutely use it! If you don’t, we can look at renting a studio nearby for indoor pictures. AirBnB and boutique hotels are also great ideas! And don’t forget outdoor locations like urban streets, parks, and botanical gardens. 

Props

For your props, think about the things that make your job possible! For bakers, this might be a whisk and a mixing bowl. For marketers, it could be your laptop. Even personal branding session props like books, pen and paper, a cup of coffee, or even your phone all work! 

Mood Board/Shot List

I highly suggest coming into your personal branding session knowing exactly what you want. To do this, think about the images that can transform your website or make your advertisement stand out. You can also check out your photographer’s website and mark all the pictures you might want to use as inspiration for your session! Pinterest is another great way to pull all of your ideas together. If you book me, we can go over the shot list ahead of time so you can be sure you get all the pictures you need during your session! 

Don’t Forget to Relax During Your Personal Branding Session!

Last but not least, don’t be afraid to kick back and have fun! If you feel stiff and awkward, it’s going to show in your pictures. I always suggest finding a photographer (like me!) who will keep things light throughout. Remember, they are going to be the ones to guide you through every step and help you figure out your poses. Be sure you pick someone who will keep your session laid back and fun!
