You have spent a long time growing your business, giving it all of your attention and your energy. So, when you need to schedule photos, the last thing you want is a photographer who doesn’t give your brand the care it deserves. Trust me, I get it. As a Lowcountry branding photographer, I adore working with local businesses to make them feel seen. I recently had the opportunity to partner with Compass Rose Health and Wellness to plan a session celebrating all their hard work. Here is everything that went into making their photo shoot so special!

Before I can tell you too much about that session, I just have to take a second and tell you why I love this local business so much! This practice was started by Laura McCall back in 2022 as a way to completely revolutionize healthcare. Rather than taking a blanket approach to your health, they get to know their patients so they can find ways to actually help you feel your best. This group features Board-Certified Nurse Practitioners and Resident Nurses with years of experience working in the field.

I first worked with them back in 2025, and their practice has grown a ton, from 4 employees to 9. This meant we had to completely change our approach for their recent session. Here’s a look at what happened behind the scenes.

We started out with a pre-planning meeting. The first Compass Rose Health and Wellness shoot had been pretty quick, only requiring a four-hour session. Since they’ve grown, we decided it was necessary to do an eight-hour session. With this change, I encouraged them to book professional hair and makeup since they needed something to last the entire day. This turned out to be a game-changer, ensuring they looked incredible after hours of work.

With these sessions, I always do a pre-shoot call to review the content deck and make sure we get all the shots they want. This typically includes the schedule, wardrobe suggestions for the employees and models, Pinterest photo inspiration, and all the necessary content info. This meeting really helped the shoot day go seamlessly.

Next, we created a schedule so we could capture all the content Compass Rose Health and Wellness needed. We wound up having eight of the practice’s clients come in to model the wellness services. As we made the schedule, we created the client call times by deciding when each item would be photographed and who needed to be in these shots. That way, everyone knew where they needed to be.

With so many elements, it’s pretty important to create a team ready to keep things moving. I hired an assistant to help me with the behind-the-scenes content, and they also worked as a second shooter to make sure we didn’t miss a single aspect.

From there, it was just a matter of making sure we got all the content we needed. My goal with these kinds of sessions is to give businesses content they can use on their social media for over a year. These images can also be used to update your website and marketing materials. With Compass Rose, we highlighted their favorite brands, updated their office photos, and got lifestyle shots of all their providers.

Of course, with an eight-hour day, you’re bound to get hungry. This is where my friends at Healthy Habit came along. I’ve worked with this health cafe in the past and decided to ask if they could sponsor a lunch for 14 people to help us maintain our energy throughout. It wound up being the perfect addition to a day full of content creation!

Once my session with Compass Rose Health and Wellness was completed, they had a final product they adored. I love getting to work with businesses such as these to plan detailed sessions so they can reach the next level of their company’s growth.
